Costs, purchase and validity. Here are some answers to questions about tickets for the Gornergrat Railway.
Seasonal prices apply on the Gornergrat Railway. In the winter season (November – April), the return journey from Zermatt to the Gornergrat costs CHF 96.00, in summer (May – October) CHF 132.00. A variety of passes and tickets entitle you to a 50% discount.
It’s best to buy a ticket for the Gornergrat Railway online. You can load your ticket directly onto your SwissPass, show it on your mobile phone or print it out at home (print@Home).
You can also buy your ticket at the ticket counter or at the ticket machines at the valley station of the Gornergrat Railway. There are also ticket machines and counters at Täsch station (Matterhorn Terminal Täsch) where you can buy train tickets to Zermatt as well as tickets to the Gornergrat.
It is not possible to reserve a specific seat. However, our “Priority boarding” offer gives you access to an exclusive waiting area where you can board the train three minutes before the other passengers and select your preferred seat.
A ticket from Zermatt to Gornergrat and back can be used for a return journey within ten days of the selected travel date.
Yes. You may use your ticket to get off at every way station and then get on again later and continue your journey. However, each section may only be travelled once per direction.

Bicycles are not permitted on the Gornergrat Railway. We also do not transport bikes in the TranZBag.
You can take your dog with you on the Gornergrat Railway. Your furry friend also travels for free. Please keep the dog on a leash and do not let it on the seats.
