Winter hiking Rotenboden - Riffelberg
Away from the ski slopes through undisturbed nature

From Rotenboden station there is a prepared hiking trail to the left of the rail track (when looking down the valley) going towards the Riffelsee lake. To your left the Riffelhorn peak rises above you. After about one kilometre, on a slight rise, you will see the Matterhorn from its most beautiful side. Now the path goes down a little more steeply. Away from the ski slopes and mountain restaurants you walk towards the Matterhorn. After two kilometres you will reach the ‘Brother Klaus chapel’. Compare it with the shape of the Weisshorn peak in the background and you will see that the shape of the chapel was inspired by the peak. The hike ends on the Riffelberg where there are various places to enjoy a warming cup of coffee or tea.
